In the second quarter of 2026, the revenues of the top ten IC design companies worldwide increased by 73% year-on-year, and the demand for AI remained strong.
NVIDIA remains at the top of the list, while AMD has risen to third place thanks to the improvement of CPUs in agent-based AI applications.

With the expansion of AI-related applications, the demand for GPUs, CPUs, ASICs, and interconnect products has risen, driving the combined revenue of the top ten non-chip foundry IC design companies worldwide to increase by 73% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, exceeding $141.45 billion. NVIDIA remains at the top of the list, while AMD has risen to third place thanks to the improvement of CPUs in agent-based AI applications. Qualcomm, due to the weakening of its mobile business, has dropped to the fourth position.

NVIDIA's revenue in the second quarter increased by 99% year-on-year, reaching nearly 91.16 billion US dollars, and its share of the top ten manufacturers' revenue rose to 64%. Besides being the main customer of the super-large cloud service providers, Neo Cloud customers, sovereign AI and enterprise customers also made significant contributions to the revenue.

NVIDIA recently participated in the ASIC-related market by expanding the NVLink Fusion ecosystem. For instance, it invested in MediaTek to assist customized XPU customers in enhancing interoperability with the existing NVIDIA infrastructure and to lay the groundwork for the future automotive AI field. Before that, the investment in Marvell also included NVLink Fusion as a cooperation project.

The proxy AI enhances the strategic position of the CPU, and optical interconnection becomes the key to expanding computing power.

Broadcom ranked second in terms of second-quarter revenue. The first ASIC designed by it for OpenAI and Google's TPU 8i began shipping this quarter. The networking business also experienced rapid growth along with XPU, with a year-on-year revenue increase of up to 112%, reaching over 18.89 billion US dollars. The six major custom chip customers, including developers of frontier models such as Anthropic and OpenAI, will continue to drive its demand for XPU.
AMD ranked third, benefiting from the advent of the era of agent AI, with the importance of CPUs once again increasing. Its revenue in the second quarter exceeded 11.53 billion US dollars. Its revenue from data center CPUs has continuously reached new highs for five consecutive quarters, continuously increasing its market share in the X86 Server sector.
The rapid growth in interconnection demand pushed Marvell's revenue to 2.63 billion US dollars in the second quarter, ranking sixth. Its PAM4 DSP chips lead the industry, with strong demand for 800G DSP and rapid ramp-up of 1.6T DSP; its customized business has also reached an agreement with Google, and will bring significant contributions in the fiscal year 2029.

The mobile chip giant expands its AI-related business layout.

Qualcomm's mobile chip business remained in a period of adjustment in the second quarter, and the share of its new-generation iPhone modem chips also declined. However, the automotive market has maintained double-digit year-on-year growth for 23 consecutive quarters, with revenue exceeding 8.5 billion US dollars. Recently, Qualcomm has also returned to the data center business and accelerated the diversification layout of the QCT department.

MediaTek's revenue was also affected by the mobile business, reaching approximately 4.81 billion US dollars, ranking fifth. However, the company revised its outlook for the AI ASIC business, expecting that the revenue from data centers in 2026 will exceed 2 billion US dollars, and the market size for ASIC services in 2028 will be raised to 80 billion US dollars.

Consumer IC design companies benefited from the early purchase momentum and continue to seek the next revenue highlight.

Realtek's second-quarter revenue was nearly 1.19 billion US dollars, ranking seventh. Due to the estimated continued slowdown in PC performance in the second half of 2026, it plans to enter the Server market by leveraging its existing strong IP, such as 10G Ethernet and Server Control Plane switches.

MPS (Synopsys) mainly grew from AI-related power management solutions, with a revenue of 981 million US dollars in this quarter, ranking eighth. The company maintained capacity expansion to support the transformation to a semiconductor solution provider.

Novatek's (Lianying) second-quarter revenue was 907 million US dollars, ranking ninth. The main reason for the revenue growth this quarter was the continuation of the early purchase momentum from customers. The revenue share of its SoC chips has exceeded 50%, and it will continue to invest in Edge AI and other machine vision SoC-related applications.

OmniVision (Omicron Technology) had semiconductor design revenue of 838 million US dollars in this quarter, ranking tenth. Although the prices of memory affected the mobile and automotive CIS businesses, the growth of emerging applications such as action cameras was strong, and the analog ICs had already laid out chips for optical communication EIC, including TIA and Driver chips.
